Sydney man arrested for air rage
27sep02
A 21-YEAR-OLD Australian man was arrested at the Kuala Lumpur international airport for unruly behaviour on board a Lauda Air flight, a report said today.
He is alleged to have smashed a television set and attacked a crew member who refused to serve him more alcoholic drinks during the flight from Vienna on Tuesday, The Star said.
It took five people to restrain him and he was arrested when the carrier made a stopover in Kuala Lumpur on the way to Sydney.
The unnamed man, who was returning home from a business trip, is now under police remand for a week and is being investigated for endangering the lives of those on board, the newspaper said.
Police confirmed the arrest but declined to give details. Although passengers in air rage cases can face jail sentences in Malaysia, most are simply deported after being held for investigation.
